M-06 – A ROCA CAPE (THE MOST WESTERN POINT IN MAINLAND EUROPE)

The westernmost point of continental Europe, which the Portuguese poet Camões defined as "where the land ends and the sea begins".
Its geographical coordinates are:
Lat. - 38' 47' North
Long. - 9' 30' West
Elevation - 140 m above sea level.
Cape Roca lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Lisbon.
Known to the Romans as Promontorium Magnum, the cape is a narrow granite cliff, forming the western end of the Sintra Mountains.
